Preview: Covington Lions vs. Amite Warriors
The Covington Lions and the Amite Warriors will face off at 6:30 p.m. on December 28th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard on Thursday.
Last Saturday, Covington was able to grind out a solid win over East Iberville, taking the game 73-65. The win was just what Covington needed coming off of a 68-41 loss in their prior match.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Amite beat Hammond 67-63 on Friday.
Covington is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-7 record this season. As for Amite, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Covington opened the new year with a less-than-successful 59-48 loss to Amite. Thankfully for Covington, Simeon Powell (who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
