Softball Recap: Cambridge Comes Up Short

Cambridge had lost seven straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 1-10 to make it eight. They lost 12-0 to the Tamarac Bengals. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Athletics of the 13-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

As for Tamarac, the win keeps them at an undefeated 17-0. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 11.2 runs this season.

For Tamarac's part, Kenlyn Ferris made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave Ferris a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ashlynn Tomaro and Toni DeLorenzo did most of the damage at the plate: Tomaro went 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run, while DeLorenzo got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. That triple was Tomaro's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Erin Lee, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Coincidentally, Cambridge and Tamarac will both be playing Greenwich the next time they take the field. The Athletics will head out to face the Witches at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Bengals will host them at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
