Softball Recap: Tri-Cities Prep Comes Up Short

Tri-Cities Prep extended their losing streak to six on Friday, dropping their season record down to 3-16 in the process. They lost 16-1 to the River View Panthers. The game snapped a strange streak: the last six times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

As for River View, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 18-1. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 17.9 runs.

For River View's part, Kaydence Mathews made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). Mathews has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, River View got a massive performance out of Courtney Morris, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Danika Koch, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.

While Tri-Cities Prep had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
