Basketball Game Preview: Franklin Central Flashes vs. Roncalli Royals

The Franklin Central Flashes will face off against the Roncalli Royals at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Franklin Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.2 points per game this season.

Roncalli is hoping to do what Columbus North couldn't last Saturday: put an end to Franklin Central's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Franklin Central wrapped up 2024 with a 62-45 win over Columbus North.

Franklin Central relied on the efforts of Lily Graves, who went 8 of 15 on her way to 24 points, and Payton Duvall, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Duvall a new career-high in steals (six). Another player making a difference was Ashlee Baker, who posted nine points and four steals.

Franklin Central was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Columbus North only racked up eight assists.

Meanwhile, Roncalli didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 51-47 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Royals.

Franklin Central has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Roncalli, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-7.

Franklin Central didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Roncalli when the teams last played back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 57-52 victory.
