Stearns was handed a ten-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Penquis Valley Patriots 8-6. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-9 back in April.

Stearns' victory bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Penquis Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Stearns wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 6-4 win against Lee Academy on the 22nd. As for Penquis Valley, they will take on Piscataquis at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
