San Marcos entered their tilt with Ventura on Monday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They took down the Ventura Cougars 65-49. Given the Royals' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 104th, while the Cougars are ranked 374th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ventura lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jett Ryan, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Finn Fancher, who posted 12 points and five boards.

San Marcos has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.
