Baseball Recap: Neptune Takes a Loss

Neptune lost against Freehold Boro back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Scarlet Fliers fell just short of the Colonials by a score of 3-2.

Hunter Morgan put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Those three hits allowed gave him a new career-low. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run.

Morgan wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nick Bailey, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one RBI.

Neptune has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season. As for Freehold Boro, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Neptune will challenge Lakewood at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Scarlet Fliers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Piners have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season. As for Freehold Boro, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Monmouth Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
