Preview: Guyer Wildcats vs. Little Elm Lobos

Guyer and Little Elm are an even 3-3 against one another since January of 2021, but not for long. The Guyer Wildcats will be home for the holidays to greet the Little Elm Lobos at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Guyer fought the good fight in their overtime match against Prosper on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 65-64 to the Eagles. While losing is never fun, Guyer can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 334th, while Prosper is ranked 42nd).

Meanwhile, Little Elm earned a 67-57 victory over McKinney on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Little Elm.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Little Elm to victory, but perhaps none more so than Raniyah Hunt, who went 7 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points and 1 assists. Those 27 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Martin, who scored 17 points along with five assists.

Guyer has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Little Elm, their win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-4.

Things could have been worse for Guyer, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 58-39 loss to Little Elm in their previous meeting back in January. Thankfully for Guyer, Amarachi Kimpson (who scored 23 points along with three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
