Basketball Recap: Haylee Beachy's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Shekinah Christian over West Jefferson

If Shekinah Christian was riding high fresh off their 57-18 takedown of Cristo Rey last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Shekinah Christian Flames came up short against the West Jefferson Roughriders on Saturday, falling 65-42. The Flames have struggled against the Roughriders recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Several Flames players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Haylee Beachy, who went 5 for 9 en route to 15 points and six steals. Beachy has become a key player for Shekinah Christian: the team is 9-3 when she posts at least three steals, but 4-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Nava Showalter, who went 5 of 8 on her way to 10 points.

Shekinah Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 13-9. As for West Jefferson, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

Coming up, Shekinah Christian will take on Northside Christian in a tournament on Thursday. West Jefferson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
