Recap: Randolph-Clay Red Devils vs. Calhoun County Cougars
If the Randolph-Clay Red Devils were feeling good off their 52-30 takedown of the Pataula Charter Academy Panthers last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The contest between Randolph-Clay and Calhoun County wasn't particularly close, with Randolph-Clay falling 66-47. While losing is never fun, Randolph-Clay can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 217th, while Calhoun County is ranked 55th).
Randolph-Clay's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Daniels Josiah, who scored 11 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Josiah has scored all season. Tyrion Smith was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Randolph-Clay's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Calhoun County, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 16-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Randolph-Clay will take on Central at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully Randolph-Clay likes a good challenge. As for Calhoun County, they will be playing at home against Terrell County at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Terrell County is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 64.1 points per game.
