Football Game Preview: Brooks Lions vs. Plainview Bears + Official Tickets

The Brooks Lions will challenge the Plainview Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Brooks sitting on three straight wins and Plainview on 11 (dating back to last season).

Brooks is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing East Lawrence: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Lions blew the Eagles out of the water with a 56-20 final score. With the Lions ahead 35-14 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Brooks relied on the efforts of Ro Thompson, who rushed for 124 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries, and Tanner Bowens, who rushed for 114 yards and one score on only 11 carries. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Thompson a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Brooks was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 429 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 205 rushing yards in eight consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Plainview won against Madison Academy last Friday with 49 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. The Bears claimed a resounding 49-21 victory over St. John Paul II. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 94th, while the Falcons are ranked 271st) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Brooks' record is now 7-3. As for Plainview, their record now sits at 10-0.
