Baseball Recap: Bloomfield's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

It was a good run, but Bloomfield unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Valley Vikings by a score of 4-3. The Bobcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Vikings earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

Cable Carruth and Blake Spencer stepped up to the plate in a big way. Carruth went 2-for-3 with one home run, while Spencer scored a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Spencer a new career-high in doubles (two). Trae Woods was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Bloomfield suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 11-4. As for Valley, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Bloomfield Bobcats face off against Aztec Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The match will give Bloomfield their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Valley, they are taking a road trip to face off against Albuquerque Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Valley's pitchers better be ready for this one: Albuquerque Academy has averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season.
