Softball Recap: Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Marathon Dolphins with a sharp 11-4 victory. For the Cyclones, this counts as revenge for the 7-2 win the Dolphins walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Madelyn Althage spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart got a massive performance out of Isabella Whitby, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. What's more, Whitby posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Veronica Franzino, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-5.

Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Marathon, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart will welcome Calvary Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart's pitchers better be ready for this one: Calvary Christian Academy has averaged an impressive 12.5 runs per game this season. As for Marathon, they will host Coral Shores at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Coral Shores has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 19.75 runs per game on average), something Marathon will no doubt try to take advantage of.
