Football Recap: Exeter Comes Up Short

After soaring to 35 points the game before, Exeter was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They were beaten by the Immanuel Eagles 49-7. While losing is never fun, the Monarchs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 471st, while the Eagles are ranked 207th).

Immanuel had a senior duo take command as Bennett Cords picked up 142 receiving yards and one TD and Vincent Rosander threw for 219 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes.

Exeter's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-5. As for Immanuel, they pushed their record up to 10-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Coming up, Exeter will take on Roosevelt at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rough Riders' defense has only allowed 11.3 points per game this season, so the Monarchs' offense will have their work cut out for them. Immanuel does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
