Basketball Recap: Bolivar Takes a Loss

Bolivar suffered their biggest defeat since February 12, 2024 on Monday. They were beaten by the West Plains Zizzers 77-46. The Liberators were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-16.

West Plains found their leader in freshman Gillian Green, who went 10 for 17 to rack up 23 points and seven boards. Green is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Shaylee Peterson was another key player, dropping a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds.

Bolivar's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-14. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.7 points over those games. As for West Plains, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.

Bolivar and West Plains should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings. Bolivar (ranked 134th) will meet Carl Junction (ranked 373rd) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Similarly, West Plains will take on Branson at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday up 80 places (31 vs. 111).
