Nature Coast Tech waltzed into their matchup on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They took down the Springstead Eagles 28-14. For the Sharks, this counts as revenge for the 19-13 victory the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

One reason for the win was Nature Coast Tech's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for eight sacks. Joseph Lizor led the group effort, picking up three of those sacks all by himself. Tyler 'TD' Davis also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with ten. Another thorn in Springstead's side was Dakota Mitchell, who picked up a sack and made 16 total tackles.

When it comes to explaining why Springstead lost, don't look at William Figueroa. Despite the final result, he rushed for 135 yards and a pair of scores. Figueroa has become a key player for the Eagles: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least 100 rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise.

Nature Coast Tech's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Springstead, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nature Coast Tech will challenge Dunedin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Springstead, they will square off against Gaither at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will need to watch out since the Cowboys have now posted at least 31 points in their last four contests.
