Baseball Recap: Ramona Beats San Dieguito Academy for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Ramona came tearing into Monday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the San Dieguito Academy Mustangs with a sharp 11-0 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Bulldogs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Not much got past Jakob Coxen, who gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks to keep San Dieguito Academy off the board. Coxen has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Zack Nightingale was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Derek Taylor, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Ramona always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as San Dieguito Academy only posted an OBP of .091.

Ramona's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-7. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for San Dieguito Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 7-18.

Ramona will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Mustangs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
