Football Recap: Triton Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Triton had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They were outmatched by the LaVille Lancers and fell 28-0. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lancers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Gage Riffle threw for 42 yards on five of 17 attempts. On the ground, Jayden Overmyer rushed for 38 yards.

LaVille's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brayden Schwitz, who threw for 162 yards and three TDs. Schwitz didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack, made two total tackles, and defended one pass. Cole Stafford helped Schwitz out on the ground, picking up 58 receiving yards and one touchdown, while also rushing for 65 yards.

Triton didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 14-0 win against Bremen on the 29th. As for LaVille, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 21-14 loss against North Judson-San Pierre on the 29th.
