Carl Albert came tearing into Friday's match with 25 straight wins dating back to last season (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Marshall Bears a 12-0 shutout. The Titans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bears, too.

Porter Cruze was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Cruze was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in both of his plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs.

In other pitching news, Beau Davis looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk).

He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Deleplank, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and one triple.

Carl Albert's win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Marshall, they are on a 22-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
