Mt. Zion extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping them up to 22-13. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Meridian Hawks. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Braves have posted since May 10, 2025.
Journey Snow looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Savannah Beiler, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Ana Kanemaru, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Mt. Zion hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in nine consecutive games.
As for Meridian, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-8. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.
On Meridian's side, Ashley Schelling spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on 11 hits.
At the plate, Meridian saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Shelby Renfro, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double. Another was Morgan Knierim, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.
As of now, neither Mt. Zion nor Meridian have any future games scheduled.
