Basketball Game Preview: North Valleys Panthers vs. Pyramid Lake Lakers

Two dominant guards in Ivy Williams and Kaitlin Mandell are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The North Valleys Panthers will venture away from home to face off against the Pyramid Lake Lakers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as North Valleys comes in on 16 and Pyramid Lake on ten.

North Valleys is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Truckee: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that North Valleys blew Truckee out of the water with a 51-21 final score. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matches by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Pyramid Lake was fully in charge on Saturday, breezing past Sage Ridge 61-17. The Lakers is also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the 13 contest they've won by 20+ points or more this season.

Pyramid Lake's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-5. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.6 points per game. As for North Valleys, their win bumped their record up to 19-3.

North Valleys came up short against Pyramid Lake in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, falling 52-40. Can North Valleys avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
