Volleyball Game Preview: Corner Canyon Chargers vs. Bingham Miners

The Corner Canyon Chargers are taking a road trip to challenge the Bingham Miners at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Corner Canyon sitting on four straight wins and Bingham on 12.

On Tuesday, Corner Canyon was able to grind out a solid victory over Copper Hills, taking the game 3-1.

Corner Canyon had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-21, 25-18, 25-21.

Meanwhile, Bingham faced Herriman in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Miners were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Mustangs.

One reason for the win was Bingham's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-21, 25-19.

Corner Canyon better focus on containing Derek Peterson and Spencer Smith as the pair were huge in Bingham's win. Peterson had seven digs and two aces, while Smith had 13 digs and one assist. That's the most aces Peterson has posted over his last five matches.

Bingham's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-4. As for Corner Canyon, their victory bumped their record up to 12-6.
