Basketball Recap: Blackman Extends Winning Streak to Three

Blackman entered their tilt with Rockvale on Monday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 45-41 W against Rockvale. This was a revenge game for the Blaze: when they faced off against Rockvale two weeks ago, they had to take a 45-43 defeat.

Blackman got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Layla Hall out in front who went 9-for-16 on her way to 20 points and seven rebounds. Hall has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Lyriq Mastin was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 11 points and nine boards.

Blackman smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 19 consecutive games.

When it comes to explaining why Rockvale lost, don't look at Amaya Nash. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Nash a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kailah Crawford, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 10 points and seven rebounds.

Blackman's record now sits at 22-3. As for Rockvale, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 21-9 record.

Blackman didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-33 win against Wilson Central on the 28th. As for Rockvale, they have also already played their next matchup, a 67-51 defeat against Stewarts Creek on the 28th.
