Basketball Game Preview: Leipsic Vikings vs. Van Buren Black Knights

The Leipsic Vikings are taking a road trip to face off against the Van Buren Black Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Leipsic will be strutting in after a win while Van Buren will be coming in after a defeat.

Leipsic is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They skirted past Swanton 67-64. While the Vikings didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Meanwhile, Van Buren ended up a good deal behind Bluffton on Saturday and lost 58-40. While losing is never fun, the Black Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 367th, while the Pirates are ranked 169th).

Van Buren has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for Leipsic, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.

Leipsic came out on top in a nail-biter against Van Buren in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, sneaking past 66-64. Does Leipsic have another victory up their sleeve, or will Van Buren turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
