Football Recap: Marina Comes Up Short

Monday just wasn't the day for Marina's offense. They were beaten by the Huntington Beach Oilers 54-0 on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 367th, while the Oilers are ranked 21st).

Roxie Shaia had an outrageously good game for Huntington Beach as she threw for 427 yards and seven TDs while completing 79.5% of her passes. Those seven passing touchdowns gave Shaia a new career-high. Daisy Quatman helped Shaia out on the ground, picking up 51 receiving yards and one score, while also punching in one touchdown on the ground.

This is the second loss in a row for Marina and nudges their season record down to 1-4. As for Huntington Beach, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Marina wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 21-8 loss against Corona del Mar on the 27th. As for Huntington Beach, they have also already played their next game, a 14-12 win against Edison on the 27th.
