Softball Preview: Cornwall Central Dragons vs. Goshen Central Gladiators
The Cornwall Central Dragons will face off against the Goshen Central Gladiators at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
Cornwall Central is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 21 runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Kingston on Friday. They lost 9-1 to the Tigers.
Meanwhile, Goshen Central got the win against Roosevelt on Saturday by a conclusive 14-2. Considering the Gladiators have won three matchups by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Addison Freiberger made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and only one walk). Freiberger was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Mia Antolino and Sophia Springer did most of the damage at the plate: Antolino went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Springer went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
