Basketball Recap: Tushka Finds Playoff Glory Versus Coalgate

With a playoff win on the line, Tushka rose to the challenge on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Coalgate Wildcats 61-58. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted since November 30, 2023.

Leading Tushka to victory were Cleat Zike and Tucker Willis. Zike went 7-for-10 from beyond the arc to rack up 24 points, while Willis dropped a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 boards gave Willis a new career-high. Luke Howard was another key player, putting up three points.

Tushka's record now sits at 7-16. As for Coalgate, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 15 contests. That's still a better percentage than their 4-19-1 record this season.

Tushka won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Elmore City-Pernell at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Coalgate does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
