Soccer Game Preview: Calhoun vs. Wharton

The Calhoun Sandcrabs will head out on the road to square off against the Wharton Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Calhoun's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for five straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Monday just wasn't the day for Calhoun's offense. They lost 8-0 to Bay City on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Sandcrabs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 606th, while the Blackcats are ranked 227th).

Meanwhile, Wharton also failed to score in their most recent game. They fell 2-0 to Palacios on Friday. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Calhoun's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Wharton, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.

Everything went Calhoun's way against Wharton when the teams last played back in January, as Calhoun made off with a 3-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Calhoun since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
