Volleyball Recap: Saturday's Loss Ends Shawnee's Winning Streak

After a string of eight wins, Shawnee's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of the Versailles Tigers by a score of 2-1. The Indians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Shawnee started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The final score came out to 17-25, 25-22, 25-16.

Karleigh Hutchins paced Shawnee's offense, picking up ten kills. Hutchins got some help from Chelsea Burkholder and her 21 assists. Sami Rettig and Josie Hutchins kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

Shawnee's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Versailles, they pushed their record up to 11-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Shawnee didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against New Bremen on the 27th. As for Versailles, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Lehman Catholic on the 27th.
