Football Recap: Sutter Piles Up the Points Against Woodland

Sutter put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 71-8 victory over the Woodland Wolves. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Huskies' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while the Wolves are ranked 826th).

Sutter's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Losi Asiata, who rushed for 146 yards and two TDs on only eight carries, and also picked up 52 receiving yards. Asiata's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 120 rushing yards. Braden Scritchfield was another key signal caller, throwing for 212 yards and three touchdowns while completing 90% of his passes.

Sutter didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Woodland to a completion percentage of just 50%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from four players: Andrew Barker, Max Bringgold, Eddie Gomez, and Asher Schmidt, who each logged one passes deflected. Given Scritchfield's standout performance, it's clear Woodland's secondary just wasn't on the same level.

Sutter didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Bringgold and Barker.

Sutter's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Woodland, they dropped their record down to 0-5 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Sutter will square off against Dixon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Woodland, they will head out on the road to take on Casa Roble at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wolves will need to watch out since the Rams have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
