Basketball Recap: Beaumont Snaps Six-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Beaumont got their first taste of in-conference action this week and they started things off strong. They came out on top against the Citrus Valley Blackhawks by a score of 58-46 on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cougars also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

It was another big night for Timothy Pilao, who posted 21 points. Another player making a difference was Bryce Jacobson, who had ten points.

Citrus Valley's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tysean Turner, who put up 13 points and five steals. Those five steals gave Turner a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Carmine Amaya, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 15 points.

Beaumont's win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-10. As for Citrus Valley, they now have a losing record at 8-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Beaumont Cougars challenge the Redlands East Valley Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Beaumont is facing Redlands East Valley at the right time seeing as Redlands East Valley is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Citrus Valley, they will challenge Cajon at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Citrus Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.2 points per game this season.
