Football Recap: Blake Welchert Key Part of Team Effort in Pioneers Win

Fort Calhoun gave up the first points on Friday, but they didn't give up any more after. Everything went their way against the Concordia Mustangs as they made off with a 27-7 win. The Pioneers haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Fort Calhoun's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Blake Welchert, who picked up 75 receiving yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 84 yards on only eight carries. That's the most rushing yards Welchert has posted since back in October of 2024. Another back making a difference was Kaiden Rodriguez, who rushed for 135 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry.

Fort Calhoun didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Concordia to a completion percentage of just 50%. The team can thank Lucas Demilt for the heroic effort on defense: he. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for Fort Calhoun; they were averaging 57.7%completion percentage earlier this season, but in their last three matchups they've fallen to only 57.7%.
