Recap: Apex Friendship Patriots vs. Seaforth Hawks
Apex Friendship put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victor by a 15-6 margin over the Seaforth Hawks. Considering Apex Friendship has won three games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Sydney Joyce made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). Joyce was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with a home run, two additional RBI, and an additional run.
In other batting news, Apex Friendship got a massive performance out of Makenzie Spero, who scored two runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Cheyenne Christman was another key contributor, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and a run.
On Seaforth's side, Abigail Johnson and Annika Johannson stepped up to the plate in a big way. Johnson went 2-for-4 with two triples and two runs, while Johannson went 2-for-4 with a triple, two RBI, and a run.
Even though they lost, Seaforth was hitting in the corners and finished the game with three triples. That's the most triples they've managed all season.
Apex Friendship pushed their record up to 4-0 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for Seaforth, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Apex Friendship will take on Green Hope at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
