Bridgeland beats Cypress Woods for their fifth straight win

The Bridgeland Bears had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 31-14 victory over Cypress Woods. Given Bridgeland's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 98th, while Cypress Woods is ranked 343rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bridgeland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jett Lewis led the charge by throwing for 177 yards and a touchdown. Noah Allen Cuellar and his 94 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Bridgeland's win.

Despite the loss, Cypress Woods saw an underclassman step up: Wayne Shanks jr gained 106 total yards and a touchdown.

Bridgeland's win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-1. As for Cypress Woods, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bridgeland will take on Cypress Lakes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cypress Woods, they will head out on the road to face off against Cypress Springs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
