Softball Recap: Saranac Lake Red Storm vs. AuSable Valley Patriots
Saranac Lake extended their losing streak to four on Sunday, dropping their season record down to 2-9 in the process. They lost 18-10 to the AuSable Valley Patriots. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-2 on Tuesday.
As for AuSable Valley, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-6. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won six games by eight runs or more so far this season.
For AuSable Valley's part, they got a great performance from Ava Doyle as she struck out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up five earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Doyle has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Julia Bailey, who went 4-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Cassidy Richards was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Saranac Lake does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for AuSable Valley, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 21-9 defeat against Ticonderoga on the 19th.
