Basketball Recap: Woodlawn Piles Up the Points Against Farina South Central

It was a proper cat-fight when Woodlawn duked it out withFarina South Central on Monday. The Woodlawn Cardinals claimed a resounding 62-32 victory over the Farina South Central Cougars. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 313th, while the Cougars are ranked 638th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Woodlawn to victory were Sophia Skinner and Rylie Hockett. Skinner went 10 of 23 en route to 23 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, while Hockett posted 19 points in addition to eight boards and five steals. That's the most points Skinner has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrea Kibler, who put up seven points and five steals.

Woodlawn pushed their record up to 7-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.5 points per game. As for Farina South Central, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Woodlawn will take on Fairfield in a tournament on Friday. As for Farina South Central, they will be taking part in a tournament against Arcola at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday.
