Softball Game Preview: Hoover Patriots vs. Coalinga Horned Toads

The Hoover Patriots will square off against the Coalinga Horned Toads at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Hanford hit Hoover with a nine-run third inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Patriots came up short against the Bullpups, falling 13-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Patriots have suffered since March 25, 2025.

Hoover saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hazel Martinez, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

Meanwhile, Coalinga came up short against Bullard on Thursday and fell 10-6.

Brooklyn Davis was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2025. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Cristina Guzman was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Chloe Sandoval, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Hoover's record is now 1-1. As for Coalinga, their record now sits at an identical 1-1.
