Volleyball Game Preview: Shelton Gaels vs. Southington Blue Knights

The Shelton Gaels will challenge the Southington Blue Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Shelton will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.

Shelton is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Connecticut's top teams: Cheshire, who was ranked 12th at the time (Shelton was ranked sixth). The Gaels walked away with a 3-1 win over the Rams on Friday.

Meanwhile, Southington came up short against Conard on Tuesday and fell 3-1. The Blue Knights have struggled against the Red Wolves recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Southington started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 17-25, 25-19, 25-17, 25-16.

Shelton will have to contain Mark O'Donnell as he made an impact in Southington's last game. He had 11 digs.

Shelton's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-3. As for Southington, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.
