North Pole extended their losing streak to eight on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 7-20 in the process. They fell 11-7 to the Monroe Catholic Rams. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Rams this season, with their most recent loss being a 7-4 defeat on Tuesday.
Kiah Weimer made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Baylee Borgen, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
As for Monroe Catholic, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-5. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.
On Monroe Catholic's side, Anya Chernich made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Chernich has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Monroe Catholic let Jaliya Rojas and Angie Gonzalez run wild. Rojas went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Gonzalez has posted since back in April. Emma Born was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
North Pole does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Monroe Catholic, they will head out on the road to take on Delta at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Huskies will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Rams surely won't give up without a fight.
