Basketball Game Preview: McKeesport Tigers vs. Greensburg Salem Golden Lions

The McKeesport Tigers will challenge the Greensburg Salem Golden Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

McKeesport lost 52-29 to Kiski Area on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Greensburg Salem played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Penn-Trafford, falling 57-34. While losing is never fun, the Golden Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 236th, while the Warriors are ranked 13th).

McKeesport will have to contain Mya Heasley as she made an impact in Greensburg Salem's last game. She went 7 for 17 en route to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Dinkel, who posted two points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Greensburg Salem smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive matchups.

McKeesport's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Greensburg Salem, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season.

Things could have been worse for McKeesport, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 47-29 loss to Greensburg Salem when the teams last played back in December of 2024.
