Hernando had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 17-run drubbing they dealt Horn Lake on Monday. The Tigers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Eagles a 17-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 11 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Olivia Skinner led a balanced Tigers bullpen and tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Skinner has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 18 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kennedy Bergeron was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Kendall Floyd also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Hernando always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .846. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Hernando pushed their record up to 22-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Horn Lake, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-14.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hernando will square off against DeSoto Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tigers 2, the Jaguars 1.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Horn Lake, they will challenge Rosa Fort at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
