Baseball Recap: Capital Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Capital waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They had just enough and edged out the Post Falls Trojans 6-4. While the Golden Eagles didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Cooper Myers was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases.

In other batting news, Caden Werner was incredible, scoring a run and stealing four bases while going 1-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Henry Beatty also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Capital's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Post Falls, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Capital wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 9-5 defeat against Skyline on the 21st. As for Post Falls, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Skyview on the 21st.
