Softball Game Preview: Patrick County Cougars vs. James River Knights

The Patrick County Cougars will square off against the James River Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Patrick County is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last nine games.

Patrick County's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Chatham 10-0. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by seven runs or more this season.

Journey Moore was incredible, firing off three triples, four runs, and three RBI while going 4-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Lauren Hazelwood was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Patrick County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in ten consecutive matchups.

James River couldn't beat Floyd County on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the first inning. The Knights fell just short of the Buffaloes by a score of 6-5.

Patrick County's win bumped their record up to 16-3. As for James River, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-4.

Patrick County was able to grind out a solid victory over James River in their previous matchup back in April, winning 9-5. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
