Volleyball Recap: Ayer Shirley Comes Up Short

Ayer Shirley lost against Marlborough back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Ayer Shirley lost 3-0 to Marlborough. Ayer Shirley has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Marlborough scored at least 17 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-17, 25-17.

Miles Pyatt paced Ayer Shirley's offense, picking up nine kills. Pyatt got some help from Griffon Cotter and his five assists. Pyatt was also solid from the service line: he led the team with two aces.

Ayer Shirley's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Marlborough, their record now sits at 7-1.

Looking ahead, Ayer Shirley will face off against Wachusett Regional at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Marlborough, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Lincoln-Sudbury on the 29th.
