Baseball Recap: North Sanpete Victorious

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only North Sanpete walked away with it. They had just enough and edged out the Carbon Dinos 4-3 on Friday. That's two games straight that the Hawks have won by just one run.

North Sanpete got a great performance from Peyton Rostron as he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Rostron is becoming a predictor of the Hawks' success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 2-1 (and 10-12 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tyson Guidos, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Maddex Bailey was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

The victory made it two in a row for North Sanpete and bumps their season record up to 12-13. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Carbon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-15.

Looking ahead, North Sanpete will face off against Canyon View at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Carbon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
