Basketball Recap: Longview's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

After a string of five wins, Longview's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 52-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rockwall-Heath Hawks. While losing is never fun, the Lobos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 373rd, while the Hawks are ranked 82nd).

When it comes to explaining why Longview lost, don't look at Demarion Williams. Despite the final result, he went 6 of 11 en route to 16 points and seven boards. The matchup was Williams' third in a row with at least ten points. Jeffery Smith was another key player, putting up eight points.

Even though they lost, Longview was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Kaleb Turner-Dicus was his usual excellent self, going 7 for 16 on his way to 17 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals for Rockwall-Heath. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Jackson, who posted 11 points and five boards.

Longview's loss dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Rockwall-Heath, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-5.

Longview didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-44 win against North Forney on the 7th. As for Rockwall-Heath, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 56-52 victory against Rockwall on the 7th.
