Softball Recap: Bunker Hill Comes Up Short

Bunker Hill entered their contest against Bandys on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Bears fell 5-1 to the Trojans. Having soared to a lofty 18 runs in the game before, the Bears couldn't push the score so high this time.

Serena Thurman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lila Spears made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.

Bunker Hill's defeat dropped their record down to 14-5. As for Bandys, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-6 record this season.

While Bunker Hill had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
