Volleyball Recap: Wabaunsee Chargers vs. Osage City Indians

Wabaunsee was the 2-0 winner over Osage City when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Chargers fell just short of the Indians by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday. While the Chargers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Indians 25-14 in the first set.

Wabaunsee actually scored more points across those three sets (70-64), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 14-25, 25-23, 25-22.

Despite the loss, Wabaunsee still got an impressive performance from Kinsley Michaelis, who had 19 assists and 12 digs. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Wegele, who had 11 digs.

Osage City's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emory Speece led the charge by getting ten digs and two assists. Speece has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last five times she's played.

Wabaunsee's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Osage City, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Indians beat Wabaunsee by a score of 2-0 later that day.
