The Wilson Area Warriors will take on the Salisbury Township Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wilson Area is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Wilson Area and Notre Dame meet (six straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Wednesday. The Warriors never let the Spartans get on the board and left with a 33-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won four in a row.
Tessa Fredericks was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Fredericks was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with six RBI, three runs, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anna Schmitt, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Emma Dalpe, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base.
Wilson Area always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .875. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Salisbury Township came up short against Palmerton on Wednesday, falling 11-1. The Falcons haven't had much luck with the Blue Bombers recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.
Salisbury Township saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Gunning, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one double.
Wilson Area's win bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Salisbury Township, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8-1.
Wilson Area beat Salisbury Township 8-4 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
