Preview: Douglass Mighty Ducks vs. Lewis Falcons
The Douglass Mighty Ducks will head out on the road to challenge the Lewis Falcons at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Douglass and seven for Lewis.
Last Tuesday, Douglass had to suffer through a rough 90-7 loss at the hands of Forest Park. While losing is never fun, Douglass can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 198th, while Forest Park is ranked 23rd).
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 69-10, which was the final score in Lewis' tilt against Patterson on Tuesday.
Douglass' defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 10.3 points per game. As for Lewis, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.
Douglass beat Lewis 43-30 in their previous matchup back in January of 2020. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Lewis' Nayajah Woods, who almost dropped a triple-double on nine points, ten rebounds, and 12 steals. Now that she won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be that much easier for Douglass to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
